Catholic Charities thanks everyone who attended and donated to the 23rd annual Madonna House Tea at Southern Hills Country Club, which was held on Saturday, April 13th, at 2pm.
Guests enjoyed a wine and cheese mingle, afternoon tea with assorted nibbles, the heads and tails game, a candy buffet, two raffles and surprise entertainment from Father Matt Gerlach, John O’Neill, Christ the King’s Quest Group/CREW, Emma Atkins, Katherine Sartorius and Lucia O’Connor!
Proceeds from the event support Catholic Charities’ Madonna House. Madonna House is a maternity residence and transitional program for adult pregnant women and their newborns. Madonna House provides essential services such as 24-hour staff support, food and lodging, professional counseling, obstetric care and parental skills instruction.
Kim Nelson and Mary Whelan were this year’s co-chairs. Karla Connor was presented with the Helen B. Lauinger Award for her outstanding volunteer work and loving service to the mothers and infants of Madonna House.
The Queen’s Raffle included an iPad mini, a Kansas City Shopping Trip, Disney’s Lion King Show and Hotel Package, a vintage amethyst ring and artwork from Joseph Chavez. The Princess Raffle included 17 gift items and packages from local artists, retail stores and services.
