64 graduated our GED program

64 students graduated through our Catholic Charities Spanish GED program Tuesday, May 23rd.   This was the first time Catholic Charities held their own graduation ceremony, and honored graduates from high school equivalency classes in Tulsa, Bartlesville and Muskogee. After taking the math portion of her high school equivalency test five times, 78-year-old Maria Olga Castro finally walked across the stage as a high school graduate. Valedictorian Maria Armenta shared the spotlight with her husband, Jose, who also graduated this year. Two graduates are from Catholic Charities’ residential programs, Madonna House and Saint Elizabeth Lodge. Graduates range in age from 16 to 78 and come from nine cities, including two from Kansas. Each graduate has his own story, each one compelling in its own way.
