Position Description

The Content Strategist is responsible for growing and engaging donors, volunteers and the community through mission-centered storytelling. Part strategist, writer, and project manager, the Content Strategist will collaborate closely with the Development team and program staff to identify storytelling opportunities, then will own the process for generating, publishing and analyzing the effectiveness of created content. Hours and schedule are negotiable.

Ministerial

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • Willingness to learn how to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
  • Build a common culture of ministry and management/program operations

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CCEOK Development team to develop, update and maintain overall strategy for social media and online presence
  • Develop, implement and manage social media policies and procedures for the organization, including solicitation of content from program staff
  • Create, edit and deliver accurate and polished digital content and information to support external communications across CCEOK digital platforms, incorporating input from programs and leadership
  • Interview clients, volunteers and staff to obtain compelling stories that show the impact of CCEOK on the community
  • Assist in writing of press releases and news articles
  • Help develop and maintain relationships with the media to increase earned media content for the organization
  • Develop and implement social media and publicity for the annual fundraising event, Cooking Up Compassion
  • Serve as an advocate for the organization in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
  • Evaluate the impact of public relations and social media efforts and share results with CCEOK leadership
  • Help update CCEOK web pages as needed

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field preferred

Skills

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills, with experience writing long-form content and creative copywriting
  • Experience with digital marketing functions including SEO, social media, paid advertising, email strategy, etc.
  • Strong working technical understanding and ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, or similar publishing platform, is a plus
  • Basic photography skills helpful
