Director of Catholic Charities Mary Martha Outreach (CC-MMO) – Bartlesville

Position Description

This key management leader is responsible for the long-term sustainability of CC-MMO by fundraising, community outreach, marketing, resource management, and liability managements. This is a ministerial role and, as such, leads CC-MMO consistently with the mission, policies, procedures and strategic plan of Catholic Charities or Eastern Oklahoma (CC). The role oversees the administration, programs and strategic plan of the department in conjunction with CC leadership.

General Responsibilities

CC Management and CC-MMO Advisory Council: Works with CC in order  to fulfill the organization mission.

• Responsible for leading CC-MMO in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the CC Board of Directors and CC-approved recommendations from the CC-MMO Advisory Council.
• Responsible for communicating effectively with CC Management and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Financial Performance and Viability: Develops and manages resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the department.

• Responsible for the fiscal integrity of CC-MMO, to include submission to CC management of a proposed annual budget. Review and analyze monthly budget vs. actual financial reports.
• Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the department in a positive financial position.
• Responsible for fundraising, under the direction of CC Development and developing other resources necessary to support CC-MMO’s mission.

Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

• Pray daily for the needs of the poor, especially through the Sacrifice of the Mass, Morning Prayer, and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
• Responsible for implementation of CC-MMO’s programs that carry out the Catholic Charities’ mission.
• Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that CC-MMO can successfully fulfill its mission into the future including:
• Building & maintaining relationships, including but not limited to Walmart.
• Maintaining and increasing funding and funding sources, especially United Way and other key funders.
• Developing and maintaining the required volunteer support.• Responsible for the enhancement of CC-MMO’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the program are appropriate. The Director of CC-MMO will balance the external-facing responsibilities of the position and being on-site, day-to-day, guiding service delivery decisions in accordance with established policy and procedure.

Responsible, effective administration of CC-MMO operations while optimizing employees, volunteers, properties, facilities, and equipment to meet established goals.

• Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff and expanding the volunteer base.
• Responsible for researching and recommending all agreements and other instruments to CC management for approval.
• Assuring a clean and safe work environment.

Professional Qualifications

• 5 years residing in Bartlesville.
• 5 years managing personnel.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree.
• Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
• 5 or more years senior nonprofit management experience.
• Solid, hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
• Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
• Ability to convey a vision of CC-MMO’s strategic future to staff, CC management, CC-MMO Advisory Council, volunteers and donors.
• Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector.
• Skills to collaborate with and motivate management, Advisory Council members and other volunteers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
• Strong public speaking ability.
• Proven ability for long term project management

Actual Job Responsibilities

Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the Northeast Oklahoma and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance CC’s Mission.

• Planning and operation of annual budget.
• Follow established CC employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the CC department.
• Serving as CC-MMO’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public under the direction or CC Mission Advancement.
• Report to and work closely with CC management and CC-MMO’s Advisory Council to seek their involvement in policy decisions,  fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the Foundation throughout the Northeast Oklahoma.
• Supervise and collaborate with department and CC staff.
• Strategic planning and implementation.
• Oversee department Advisory Board and committee meetings, documenting and publishing minutes.
• Oversee marketing and other communications efforts under the direction of CC Mission Advancement.
• Review and recommend contracts for services to CC management.
• Other duties as assigned by CC management.

Compensation (Fixed and Variable) commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Quality benefits package includes health, dental, paid vacation, holidays, and sick time.  After two years of success, the Director is eligible to participate in CC 403B program.
