Matthew Cecchetto from Ecuador, Ana Maria Machado from Cuba, and Gregory Chang Charng Jer from Malaysia spent time in Oklahoma learning about the culture of the United States and Oklahoma.

Three Overseas Cultural Orientation Trainers visited Tulsa to learn about American culture so they can take it back to their home countries and educate refugees who are waiting relocation to the United States. Refugees receive a 15-20 hour overseas cultural orientation to help them adjust when they arrive and to help reduce culture shock. Catholic Charities Tulsa was one of eight resettlement sites selected across the United States to host the trainers for four days. The group visited refugees living in Tulsa,  learned about services and educational opportunities that are provided to refugees in our community,  and spent time enjoying some of our favorite Oklahoma pastimes including a hoedown, horseback riding, bowling, BBQing and swimming.
