Poteau middle school collects 1,940 food items

Catholic Charities’ new helping center received a large donation of canned goods from Pansy Kidd Middle School’s Student Council.  The sixth, seventh and eighth graders held a canned food drive on behalf of Catholic Charities and collected 1,940 food items. It took the students three days and several trips for the students to deliver the food from the school, which is next door to the food pantry. Ms. Susan Manlove, Student Council sponsor, accompanied the students who delivered the food. The food collected will benefit many families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Catholic Charities’ Immaculate Conception Helping Center is holding a Grand Opening on Tuesday, November 27th from 9am to 2 pm.

The helping center, located at Immaculate Conception parish at 410 North Bagwell, opened its doors on October 9, 2012. The facility is now open to serve clients with food and financial assistance between the hours of 9am and 2pm, Tuesday and Wednesday of each week.

Refreshments will be served at the Grand Opening and everyone is welcome.
