Adoption Orientation Meetings

Learn about the adoption process and how to get started. These meetings are held monthly, every other month in the afternoon from 1pm-3pm and opposite months in the evening from 5:30pm-7:30pm. See the calendar for specific dates and times.

Approved Adoption Home Study
• Licensed Social Worker/ Counselor who is current in their AHS training

Life Book
• Example of Life Book (showed to Birth parents)
• Based on AP’s “Characteristics of the Child” and Birth parents “Wish List for their child”

• 10 hours required
• Support Group Meetings
• Adoption Learning Partners (

Matching Process
• Acceptance/Non-Acceptance
• Notify Adoptive Parents

• Upon acceptance – families meet

Risks Associated with Adoption

Post Placements
• Three-within six months of placement: 1 month, 3 months, 5 months

Termination of Birth Parents Parental Rights
• Court (Relinquishment of Parental Rights) – 6-10 day after birth

• AP hire attorney to file for final decree of adoption
