Joseph & Melissa’s Letter

Dear Birth Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to learn about us; we’re sure there’s so much going on in your life right now, it must be overwhelming. Please know that we are praying for you, and we admire you so much for the love, compassion, and courage you are demonstrating through this process.

So, who are we? We are Joseph and Melissa. We met in 2005 at work in the accounting industry in Los Angeles. Joseph grew up in the central valley of California, went to college outside of Los Angeles, and then moved to LA to begin work. Melissa moved around a lot growing up, as she was born on the East Coast, lived in several places in her youth, from San Diego to outside of Detroit, and went to college in Los Angeles, after which she started work (and that’s how we came to meet). We got to know each other for several months in that work setting before we started dating. We were married in the fall of 2007 in Los Angeles. Some of our favorite dates were (and still are): attending sporting events, having cookouts with friends, trying new restaurants, and taking our dog for walks. We have been blessed with a daughter, whom Melissa gave birth to, who loves to do these things with us, and we also like to play new and silly games with her, like having bubble blowing contests, doing finger painting, and lots of baking.

Prior to marriage, we discussed adoption, and how we both felt a calling to adopt, regardless of if we biologically grew our family or not. We know that God puts different desires on people’s hearts, and it is on ours to grow our family both ways.

Thank you again for taking the time to consider our family for your child. The path you are taking demonstrates the great love you have for him or her, and it is our continuing prayer that you feel peace and comfort, as well as God’s guiding hand, in all your upcoming decisions.

Sincerely,

Melissa & Joseph
